AlUla's Design Exhibition Comes to Milan
RIYADH: Design Space AlUla will make its grand debut at Milan Design Week, which takes place from April 14 to 21. This groundbreaking exhibition will feature the collaborative efforts of Saudi and international designers, each bringing their unique vision to celebrate Materia Natura, which honours AlUla's rich natural history and cultural heritage.
Among the esteemed designers contributing to this exceptional exhibition are Zahrah Alghamdi, Leen Ajlan, Cristian Mohaded, Hall Haus, Leo Orta, and many others. Their diverse perspectives offer a captivating exploration of AlUla's unique identity.
At the helm of this ambitious project is the renowned CLOUD/Studio Sabine Marcelis, which has been entrusted with designing the show that embodies AlUla's essence as a centre of culture, creativity, and storytelling. Focused on light, the central cylinder symbolizes an ideal sun, illuminating the main room.
The exhibition will feature recent projects from AlUla, an ancient city with ambitious plans spanning the creative industries and design sector.
Nora Aldabal, Executive Director of Arts and Creative Industries at the Royal Commission for AlUla, emphasized the significance of AlUla's development as a hub for design, traditional arts, and innovation, celebrating its cultural heritage and natural surroundings.
The selected works showcase AlUla's emerging design aesthetic and reflect the ongoing inspiration and dialogue fostered by the destination across various cultures and artistic disciplines.
Designer Marcelis expressed the enchantment of AlUla, stating that the city's rich history and recent transformations have inspired many to create and dream. The Design Space AlUla in Milan serves as a platform to unveil the latest design initiatives collaborating designers developed, showcasing finished products and their creative processes.
